This 5k challenge will take place on the Watershed Track on the 30th March.
Each participant buys a place for the challenge through the shop (€4) and selects a time for running a 5k on the track using the drop down box – something in line with your training plan at the time, challenging but not all-out.
James starts a countdown timer with the longest of all the times entered and the runner who entered with that time starts…when the clock counts down to the time that YOU picked, YOU start as well.
In theory if everyone runs at their predicted pace, then every single person will cross the finish line at the same time.
You must make forward steady progress at all times, and the winner is the first person to cross the line after the clock reaches zero, i.e. closest to the prediction but not ahead of the prediction.
But here’s the catch….. no gps, no watches, no smartphones, no relatives standing nearby with megaphones and that big clock on the wall of the watershed will be off.
Winner gets half the pot, and nominates a local charity for the other half.
