The aim of the Kilkenny Triathlon Club (KTC) is simple; to introduce local people of all ages and ability to the combined sports of swimming, cycling and running; to promote a healthy lifestyle; to provide the highest quality training and triathlon development for its members and to be sole representation of the sport of triathlon within the local community.

Following the success of the inaugural Kilkenny Triathlon in 2010 and the strong presence of local entrants, it became apparent that there was a great desire among aspiring Kilkenny triathletes to join, train with and represent a triathlon club. A number of local participants got together to discuss the possibility of setting up a club and from this the KTC was born.

KTC officially launched in January 2011, with the aim to expand as the year progresses and to strive to offer all members the best possible training ground for either their 1st or 21st Triathlon!

Triathlon is a modern, exciting and inclusive sport and is also the fastest growing sport in the world, nowhere more so than Ireland. With over 50 triathlon clubs in Ireland and over 130 officially registered races per year on the Triathlon calendar the sport is going from strength to strength. Over 14,000 people participated in a triathlon in Ireland in 2009, with 20,000 expected to have competed in the 2010 season.
